Little Story
While at College, I did an Internship at the Contemporary Art Museum of my city.
I was assigned to give art tours to visiting schools.
One day trying to explain to an uninterested group of 20 kids (ages 8 to 16) Why the exhibition at the time - scaffoldings spread throughout the Windows/Glass Walls on the First floor of the Museum, where the public was invited to step up on it and look at the outside view - was relevant.
I had prepared a full list of reasons: The work with perspective, like in classical art. The landscape paintings, etc...
when a teenager tired of all, said: I came here to see art, statues and pictures. I do not understand what we are doing here. And that was when an eight-year-old boy came to my rescue, explaining art much better than I was able until that day. He said, from the top of that scaffolding while looking at the view, "We are here because art make us see."

Ainda sobre experiencia:
Um dos maiores equivocos na formacao da uma teoria estetica da arte/para arte, estah em se acreditar na obrigacao e dependencia de se partir do trabalho de arte na sua existencia fisica para sua compreensao.
Uma vez que o trabalho se materializa- para o senso comum- ele existe independente da fruicao humana, ja fixado em categorias (nubladas ou nao) da pintura, desenho, escultura ou gravura. Em consequencia, o real trabalho de arte que reside na transformacao da realidade atraves de um pensamento- hospede na peca- e em transito com o fruidor, eh descartado. O resultado desse trafico nao eh entendido como a razao e motivo de ser da obra. Uma teoria estetica da arte deve partir da experiencia e nao do trabalho/materia para sua formacao.
A ideia do artista cruza a obra (objeto). Nao eh com o seu resultado fisico que a obra alcanca seu entendimento e real significado, mas sim quando o contato (amigavel ou nao) com o fruidor acontece.

O status de algumas Obras de Arte impede o dialogo com a realidade. Sem humanidade seu titulo perpetuo transforma o que antes era movimento e vida em isolado objeto. Sem alcance, tanta historia e deferencia sufocam o motivo em que o objeto foi criado em primeira instacia: Participacao na existencia humana.

Art must be experienced, must create a "Space of experience".
Not anything that is experienced is art.
Experience is not art, anything that falls in the category of passive truth is no longer art. Old truths are memories like fossils, they are still relevant as allegories of what once was. When one crosses a work of art, the encounter, if it's worth it, burns bridges, erases the trail of safe thinking, leaving a candle light. Art makes you experience life with your own senses, through the environment and the body, in the present - primary experience of life. Art is Alive
